Trade Support/Business Analytics

The Equity Analyst is expected to contribute substantially to the work of the Operations team by investigating trade and position breaks, analyzing corporate actions, monitoring financing, and performing counterparty oversight. The role also requires candidates to identify opportunities to streamline current procedures and processes as well as to provide support for all new markets, products, and funds.

Responsibilities

  • monitor, analyze, and reconcile trading accounts daily by liaising with prime and executing brokers
  • reconcile accounts across counterparties, trading systems, and the internal portfolio accounting system (Advent Geneva) in the following areas:
    • account balances and trade-related activity - cash, positions (quantity and market value), activity, and dividend accruals/payments
    • non-trade-related activity - asset servicing/corporate actions, dividends paid, interest, ticket charges and commission postings, and other fees
    • financing charges
  • maintain counterparty issue lists, coordinate counterparty review meetings, and manage open issues to resolution
  • support various projects by conducting root-cause analysis to identify issues, recommend solutions, and document technical requirements
  • leverage technology to support user testing and the implementation of operational improvements
  • optimize existing departmental procedures in close collaboration with the firm's other teams, including Production Monitoring, Treasury, Accounting, and Tax

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

  • a bachelor's degree in finance, information systems, mathematics, or another analytical or engineering field from a strong academic program
  • 2-5 years of experience in the financial services field
  • experience preferred from a top-tier multi-strategy investment firm, investment bank, or fund administrator
  • knowledge of the trade lifecycle required, with equity derivatives experience preferred
  • corporate action processing experience (considered a plus)
  • strong data analysis skills with advanced Excel proficiency
The base salary for this position ranges from $95,000 to $146,000. In addition to base salary, total compensation includes a discretionary bonus, participation in an incentive compensation plan, and very generous benefits.
